DB2 Utilities: Maximize Performance and Minimize Resource Consumption
Jim Brogan, IBM
Abstract:
DB2 utility performance is of primary importance for DB2 development. This presentation will cover recent enhancements
to utilities that enable you to maximize performance and minimize resource consumption. We'll highlight significant
improvements in sort processing and zIIP exploitation, and show you how you can take immediate advantage of these improvements.

JDBC T4 Driver Primer
Bilung Lee, IBM SVL
Abstract:
IBM Data Server Driver enables Java access to IBM data servers, including DB2 for Linux, UNIX and Windows as well as DB2 for z/OS.
This talk will go over fundamentals of using the driver, in particularly type 4 connectivity, to access DB2 servers. It will also
offer tips and tricks to tune up the driver with best performance and behavior, such as data type setting, large object flow
optimization, XML capabilities, and much more.
Bio:
Dr. Lee has been working on research and development of emerging software technology, first at University of California, Berkeley
and now at IBM Silicon Valley Laboratory. He is currently the Lead of Common Team in design and implementation of IBM Data Server
Driver for JDBC, which enables Java access across IBM data server family, including DB2 for Linux, UNIX and Windows, DB2 for z/OS,
and Informix IDS. He has presented his works at various seminars and conferences. He also holds several technical inventions and
patent applications.
LUW New Functions / Features
Dwaine Snow, IBM
Abstract:
Learn how the latest version of DB2 is flattening the cost curve for data management. From unique compression algorithms, to
transparently scalable clusters, to Oracle compatibility - this session will introduce you the presenter's favorite
technologies across the DB2 9 release schedule.
Bio:
