Abstract:
This is a 70 minute presentation that will show a side by side comparison of DB2 9.5 and Oracle 11g
architectural points which include: Instance and database process and memory model comparisons,
and instance start/stop techniques, catalog/dictionary terms and the physical storage model and
file comparisons. Some basic features such as compression, workload management, data partitioning,
materialized views/MQTs and the use of profiles/governors is also discussed.
