TITLE: "A Phased Implementation of RACF Security for DB2"
SYNOPSIS:
This presentation will give a brief overview of RACF Security for DB2, and
will cover the reasons why PNX decided to convert its DB2 security to
RACF. It will discuss the tasks we undertook and obstacles we overcame in
taking a phased approach. It will also highlight some of the functional
differences between native DB2 and RACF/DB2 security, and will conclude
with some lessons learned.
SPEAKER BIO(s):

Life Insurance Company in Enfield, CT. Bill has over 20 years experience
in the Information Technology field, the last 14 as a Database

administration of the company's DB2 databases on both the mainframe and
mid-tier platforms, as well as managing a team of five other DBA's
supporting DB2, SQL Server, and Oracle/Rdb. Bill's current projects

3. Jim Wankowski, Quest Software
TITLE: "Crossing Over/ Breaking Down the DB2 Platform Barrier"
SYNOPSIS:
The popularity of DB2 UDB running on the UNIX/NT platforms is on the rise. IBM is rapidly gaining market share over Oracle. The sudden growth and popularity of DB2 on the open systems platform has resulted in a shortage of experienced DB2 DBA's to support this platform. Many DB2 mainframe DBA's are now being tasked with supporting DB2 on these new platforms, resulting in a huge learning curve. It is essential for the DB2 DBA of the new millennium to be well versed on DB2 running on multiple platforms. This presentation is geared towards the DB2 DBA who is responsible for supporting DB2 on multiple platforms. It will cover the differences in basic concepts, terminology, physical architecture, and administrative issues of DB2 across the mainframe and distributed platforms.
SPEAKER BIO:
Jim is the product marketing manager for Quest Software's DB2 products. He has over 18 years of development and DBA experience with DB2 beginning with participation in the initial 1984 DB2 beta program while at Northrop Aircraft in Los Angeles. Prior to Quest, Jim was a regional VP and DB2 product specialist for Platinum Technology. Jim is well known in the DB2 community and has spoken at countless trade shows, Regional User Groups, and technical seminars.
