PRESENTATION AND SPEAKER INFO:
1.      Judi Powers and Bill Lee, MetLife

      TITLE:  "How to Survive Stored Procedures"
      SYNOPSIS:

The presentation will chronicle and document the implementation of stored procedures in Metlife's large OS/390 environment. The discussion will detail the evolution from DB2 managed stored procedures in DB2v5 to WLM managed stored procedures in DB2v7. Many of the interesting problems and hurdles overcome along the way will be discussed. Concluded with our current stored procedure environment, detailing sample applications, debugging and the direction of stored procedures at Metlife.

SPEAKER BIO(s):
Judi is a Systems DB2 Programmer in Integrated Technologies Enterprise Systems group for Data Services. Has over 20 years professional IT experience. 8 years developer at IBM, 12 years as a systems programmer at KEYBANK, focus on MVS,OS/390, CICS and DB2. Lead systems programmer for implementing stored procedures at METLIFE. Currently responsibilities include DB2 systems support and migration.

Bill is a Senior DBA in the Metlife Database Administration department. He has over 15 years professional IT experience. 10 years as a COBOL/DB2 application programmer and 5 years as a DB2 DBA. Current responsibilities include Stored Procedure Lead DBA, responsible for implementation and rollout of stored procedures to the application development community.

2.      Mark McCormack, State Street

      TITLE:  "Recover from Dasd Volume Backup instead of Image Copy: A User's Experience"
      SYNOPSIS:

This presentation covers the mechanics of local site tablespace recovery using dasd backups instead of image copies. Emphasis will be on FDR software and EMC dasd. Other software and dasd types will be mentioned. Possible problems and dealing with them will be covered. These techniques can be adapted for disaster recovery. 

SPEAKER BIO:
Mark has been working with IBM mainframes since 1970. Most of that time was spent with companies of the old Bell System. He has been doing DBA work since 1978, first with IMS, and with DB2 since 1990. He has presented at IDUG previously in 1996 and 1999.  He also made presentations on IMS at SHARE in 1986 and 1991.

3.      Sean Lee, IBM

      TITLE:  "DB2 for zOS Version 8: The Family Grows Closer"
      SYNOPSIS:

     SPEAKER BIO:

Sean Lee is a member of the DB2 UDB for z/OS Test and Performance
organization at the IBM Silicon Valley Laboratory.  In his 5 years at IBM,
he has worked as a  DB2 level 2 analyst, DB2 customer advocate, and has
recently completed an assignment as the lead DB2 architect at the IBM
Design Center for e-business on demand (TM) which architects complex end to
end cross-platform solutions.  WebSphere and DB2 integration is his current
focus area. He has presented this topic at IDUG, WebSphere DeveloperWorks,
and regional DB2 User Groups.
